No Code Ode

——
Let me write you a note.
No.
I don’t think a note will suffice.
Let me write you a No code ode.
🌌
Beloved, teacher, vast This that is,
I marvel at the supremely dark
Corners that are part of your night.
At moments, I crave the light,
Not for a sense of security,
But for the illusion of clarity
That hides in my misguided
Capacity to hold any understanding at all.
🌌
And then I look up at the night sky,
When our own beloved star
Stands behind us, very far,
And I witness, in unbound glee,
How dark can darkness be.
How deep into the incongruous
Realms of irrationality
Must I dive to ever grasp
The sheer banality
Of affixing a me to this majestic sea?
And yet, I dream of thee,
Beyond the capacity to see.
I hold experience dear to me.
🌌
An ode to write,
As if I might, even in my night,
Resemble the darkness and delight
Of wondering if tonight
May be
The moment here where I can be
Absorbed by the enormity
Of the only me I see.
🌌
And then I ponder about brevity
In the nightly glimpse
Afforded to this temporal eye,
And why it is important as this
To be in thee, majestically.
That, in all of the expanse
And gallivance,
My particular here is made with dance
And song and words that seem too long,
As I am engulfed
In the unfathomable darkness of thee.
🌌
May all see, beyond this dream,
This paradise in eternity.

Your poem is just gorgeous. I also love the photo your daughter took; it pairs beautifully with your words and adds its own quiet magic to the piece. Thank you for sharing both your poetry and this lovely visual moment.
