Interview with the Lectorscribe.
(Entèvyou ak yon Lektoskrib)
“It is the experience of another’s life for certain.”
-Anne Rice, Interview with the Vampire (1976), Part 1. Spoken by Louis/The Vampire.-
Reporter: So, what do you do?
Lectorscribe: Do you mean to ask what I am?
Reporter: I know you are a Lectorscribe, but as a Lectorscribe, what do you do?
Lectorscribe: The Lectorscribe is the doing, or being.
Reporter: Do you speak English?
Lectorscribe: “I understand a fury in your words, but not the words.”
Reporter: You are now quoting Shakespeare to me?
Lectorscribe: Why, sir, for aught I know, I may speak as much English as any man here now.
Reporter: Thank you for your time. These were all the questions I had for you.
Lectorscribe: Are you certain?
Reporter: Yes, I am done…
Lectorscribe: That’s exactly what I was saying! You are not doing, you are done, as in This happens, a happening, a being…
Reporter: Now I am done-done.
(said the reporter as they left)
…
(Did they really leave?
I believe
They are allways here
Now…)
“I understand a fury in your words, but not the words.”
-Desdemona, William Shakespeare, Othello, Act IV, Scene II, lines 32–33.-
Being Here Now
🦇
Where, when, and what,
Consider all of that.
What can be built
From the answers you got?
A little bit,
But not a lot.
🦇
For garden of forget-me-nots,
We sure do forget a lot.
If you seek
What they sought,
It means that they
Meant a lot
To you
Today.
It may.
🦇
But who are they?
This question left out
Before you jumped into the fray.
Silence left us no words to say,
So we created them anyway.
Where, when, and what,
A time and place
That time forgot,
Answers essential to the plot.
🦇
Is there a being here now?
Is that you somehow?
What is being you
Mean,
Beyond this coiled dream,
Beyond what made it seem
Simple enough
That the made up stuff,
Or words, could be seen
As the ends to a mean.
🦇
Is meaning as being,
Flowing and going?
No one is knowing,
But what is known
As the music plays on.
Listening, dancing, and being is fun.
